As we know lots of Google app have been getting a lighter and faster version of their regular version on the Play Store. Similarly, Google has released its lighter version of Gmail Go app for upcoming Android Go devices. The app provides nearly the same experience as the regular Gmail app. The size of the app is optimized to 9.51MB which is much smaller than regular Gmail app.
Since the app size is optimized for low-performance devices which might be lacking some of the features. As per Play Store description, you can keep your emails safe and well organized. The app will give you a notification when mail arrives. Later you can read and response both online and offline emails. Also, find quick messages with powerful search and lots more.
Once you installed and open the app, it will provide a welcome screen where one can add their existing Gmail account or add more new account if they want. The app will work well for low RAM devices. Also, Google is planning to make the Gmail Go app available for all Android devices and not just for Go edition devices. This app will help users who haven’t upgraded to the latest Android device yet.
Features of Gmail Go:
- It has smarter inbox option which filters your social, promotional and private section.
- Gmail Go block spam messages which help to keep your account safe.
- It provides 15GB of storage, so no need to worry about the deleting each single messages from the inbox.
- Also, it has multiple account support that helps you to log in to your Gmail or a non-Gmail account like Yahoo, Outlook etc.
However, the interface of Gmail Go app is same as compared to regular Gmail app. The only difference is that the title bar isn’t floating on top and the account doesn’t display your profile photo and background image. Sadly the app is only available to download for Android Go devices.
Multi-select and swipe gestures are still supported in this Lighter version of the app. You can create app shortcut on your Home screen that helps to jump directly to another account inbox or composing a message.
You can download Gmail Go app directly from Google Play Store, but you need to have Android Go device. If you are using other Android version and want to try this app, you can still download it from APK Mirror. Do try this app and let us know your feedback in our comment section below.
