Users Can Now Enable Disappearing Messages in WhatsApp

The Facebook-owned WhatsApp is continuously working on making the application better for its giant user database. Recently it is came to know that there will be an option for disappearing messages on WhatsApp.

What is Disappearing Messages on WhatsApp?

Once the feature is live for all platforms including Android, iPhone, KaiOS, Web, and Desktop, users will have an option to enable this feature by which they can choose on a chat and select the contact, then they can just select disappearing messages. Choosing this option will make the messages available for the selected chat for 7 days after which the chats will disappear. The feature is also available for group chats but will only be available for admins of the group.

WhatsApp is also working on face unlock feature which will be available in the future updates soon. In the disappearing feature, if the user does not open the chat then the message will be disappeared but a preview of the message will still be available in the notifications until WhatsApp is not opened. Another thing about disappearing message is that if you reply to a disappearing message, the quoted text will still be available even after 7 days.

For forwarded messages, if you forward a disappearing message to a chat which does not have this feature enabled, the message won’t disappear. If the user has created a backup before disappearing fo messages, it will be included in the backup but when the user restores it, disappearing messages will be disappeared from the backup.

How to Enable WhatsApp Disappearing Message

  1. Open WhatsApp
  2. Open a chat in WhatsApp
  3. Tap on the contact name in WhatsApp
  4. Tap on disappearing messages
  5. If prompted with information, read carefully and select continue
  6. Select On
