Kodak IM5

The Smartphone market in the world, as we all know has an amazing growth rate which attracts new and new companies to join the competition. We recently talked about how good Xiaomi had its market in India in a very short term. With this growth rate and successes many new companies like Xiaomi, Intex, Xolo etc. has entered the Smartphone market. The latest company to join this competition is Kodak; yes finally Kodak will also have their own Smartphone called IM5.

IM5 was launched on Tuesday (6/1/2015) on the occasion of CES 2015; The Kodak IM5 will first be launched in Europe and then the globally around Q1 of 2015. Even though this Smartphone is manufactured by Kodak, one of the pioneering camera companies, the camera of IM5 is not that great. The Kodak IM5 is priced roughly around 15800 INR.

It has 5 inch touch screen display which supports HD resolution of 720×1280 pixels. The IM5 comes with 1 GB RAM and 1.7 GHz octa-core processor. The IM5 will support Android 4.4.4 which is Kitkat and is upgradable to 5.0 Lollipop, the latest update of android. The date is not yet decided about the update but it is confirmed that IM5 will receive Lollipop update soon. The IM5 comes with in-built 8 GB and MicroSD card support up to 32GB. The IM5 offers 13 MP camera with LED flash with autofocus and 5 MP front camera. Although it is not bad for smartphone but when company like Kodak launches a Smartphone, there are even high expectations about the camera quality. After getting aware of features of this Smartphone and the price, there are many chances that IM5 may fail to achieve the success in India because in India there are already many Smartphones of Moto, Xiaomi and Android one which may not have all the features as IM5 but does have something or the other better compared to IM5. To be precise when you compare IM5 with Redmi Note which is priced at 9999 INR the IM5 couldn’t beat it in RAM which is 100% more in Redmi Note 4G; even the display of Redmi Note 4G is half inches more compared to IM5.

It would be really great to see how Kodak IM5 competes in the Indian market with Redmi Note 4, Moto G gen 2. Comment below what you think about Kodak IM5? We will post another article on IM5 once we get the whole update of the IM5. Keep tuned to get more knowledge about the CES 2015.
