With an increase in the prices of the cryptocurrencies over the last couple of months. Many websites hosting cryptocurrency miners are increasingly becoming a major problem for the smartphone users. The mining not only slows down your phones but also harm your battery life of the device. However Android devices don’t have any protection against these miners. So, Opera is here to protect us from these mining.
The Opera Browser adds Cryptocurrency Mining Protection which prevents your smartphones from attackers, who secretly mine cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. Recently Opera had released its new version of the desktop browser for Windows, Linux, and macOS. It includes new anti-cryptocurrency mining. Also, the new feature of opera is now available for all smartphone browsers.
The company says there are almost more than 3 million websites which exposed to cryptojacking. The new feature blocks all mining scripts so that your smartphone along with batteries works normally.
Jan Standal, VP Product Marketing at Opera, said in the statement, “When you browse the Web, there are no visual clues that your device is exposed to mining.” He added, “A single webpage you visit can take up to 4.5 hours of your battery time if you keep the tab open. This often turns out to be just the battery time you needed to use a ride-hailing app or check the map to get home.”
How does it Work?
The new anti-cryptocurrency mining feature activates by default when activating the ad blocker on your Opera Mini or Opera browser for Android. You can enable ad blocker in the Opera setting and it will automatically detect and stop the mining scripts written into the coding of a webpage.
The company says they have created a website which safely checks whether your browser is affected by unwanted cryptocurrency mining. Just visit www.cryptojackingtest.com on your mobile or desktop browser to see if your device is harm-proof by mining. You can download Opera Browser and Opera Mini directly from the Google Play store. Do try this app and let us know your feedback in our comment section below.
