Dell has launched a new app called Dell Mobile Connect. It allows an advanced and complete wireless integration between your Pc and smartphone. Users can view their incoming notifications and respond to calls and texts right from their PC. Also, it allows users to mirror their phone for controlling phone apps on your PC. After mirroring you can enjoy the smartphone functionality through your Dell PC’s mouse, keyboard, and touchscreen. It requires Android Lollipop or a newer version to run Dell Mobile Connect on your smartphone.
Dell wrote in a press release, “People don’t just have a mouse and keyboard in their hands when using a computer, they now also have a smartphone. To increase convenience and productivity, Dell is the first PC maker to introduce a software solution that enables complete wireless integration between Dell PCs and smartphones.”
Dell says the Mobile Connect will be included on most of its new PC’s which is starting from this year. The list includes the next-gen XPS, Inspiron and Vostro lineups. Even the gaming-centric Alienware devices are expected to get this feature, though there are separate apps for the brand.
Features of Dell Mobile Connect:
- You can make or take phone calls through your PC.
- Use your PC as speaker and microphone while calling.
- It allows you to send or receive SMS messages using your PC’s keyboard.
- Even the notification from your Android devices will appear on PC.
- Access your notification through your PC’s mouse, keyboard, and touchscreen.
- Mirror your phone’s screen on your PC and use any apps on the PC.
According to Dell, the app provides a complete wireless integration between your Android devices and PC. It allows you to check any third party app notification, make or receive phone calls or texts. Also, you can run your phone’s Android apps on your PC through mirroring.
As mention above, some features of Mobile Connect are already built into Windows 10 with ‘Continue on PC’. Dell is trying to make the whole process easier for their customers. For screen mirroring, it will use a mixture of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for the transfer of information from your smartphone to PC.
The company also said that the connection between your phone and PC remains secure through a point-to-point connection. The information will never go on the internet or WiFi routers.
