As we know Instagram allows users to share pictures and videos either publicly, or privately to their followers. Recently Instagram introduced two new features called Stories Highlights and Stories Archive. It allow users to keep their stories for more than 24 hours. Now Instagram started experimenting with a new feature called Recommended Posts. These posts will display on your timeline itself. But those posts are not from the people that you currently follow. This new feature will go live for all users.
Instagram clearly labeled the “Recommended for you” section which contains three to five suggested posts in it. The company was planning to place these Recommended Posts feature in the explore section. But now they started showing up this feature on the news feed even if you don’t like it. Recommended Posts in your news feed is based on those that have been liked by other accounts whom you follow.
In a statement to TechCrunch, Instagram says, “There is no disabling the Recommended for You feature, but recommended posts can be temporarily hidden by tapping the three dots at the top of a recommended post and choosing to hide.”
Apart from the accounts you follow, ads, and stories section, you will soon start seeing a suggested post on a wide range. Also, you will see posts in your news feed section while you’re scrolling. These update is coming just after the rollout of the feature called ‘follow hashtags’ which also show latest and trending posts in your news feed.
As per TechCrunch report, the recommended posts section cannot be disabled. But Instagram allows you to temporarily hide the “Recommended for You” section by tapping the three-dot menu above the post, then select Hide option. By doing this, the posts section will appear after you have viewed all the posts on your news feed. The feature has started rolling out for Android users and may take some time before it reaches to everyone in a world. Do try this new feature and let us know your feedback in our comment section below.
