OnePlus Nord 2 which is rumoured to launch in Q2 2021 will supposedly be powered with MediaTek’s Flagship Dimensity 1200 chipset which was released by the company in January 2021. This will be the first smartphone that will not be powered by a Snapdragon Chipset. Earlier the company was known for launching phones with Flagship processors but recently with OnePlus Nord the company has made an entry into budget level smartphones with OnePlus Nord N10 5G and OnePlus Nord N100
OnePlus Nord has been quite a hit in sales as it is a mid-tier premium phone from the company and has also received Android 11 recently for the device which was launch in mid-2020. Now OnePlus is going to launch another phone under the Nord brand which will be powered by MediaTek’s processor Dimensity 1200 which is one of the big step company has taken so far and could be a win for MediaTek.

The MediaTek’s Dimensity is built on a 6nm chipset that has a price COrtex A78 core which goes up to 3.0 GHz and another three A78 cores which is clocked at 2.6 GHz and additional four Corttex A55 cores that is clocked at 2.0 GHz to perform energy efficient tasks. The chipset is paired with Mali-G77 GPU (Graphic Processing Unit) with 9 cores as described earlier that comes with dual sim 5G connectivity which is yet to be seen in Qualcomm Processors in 2021.
MediaTek chipsets haas been quite popular with brands such as VIVO, OPPO, LG, Xiaomi which has been an alternative for Snapdragon chipset and now it seems that OnePlus will be adopting too. One of the selling point of OnePlus Nord was its pricing in perspective of brand making it a mid range premium smartphone that was powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset with 90 Hz Refresh rate.
